I'd pay twice the price of a regular machine for it too and not even blink (OK, I'd probably not pay twice the price and I would definitely blink), but a twin tub is my next washing machine. I miss the sud saver option and the spin - oh how good they can spin!

I like to dry the washing by the fire too. I love to be able to heat the house, boil the kettle, cook dinner and dry the washing with the one appliance for the basically free - we collect and cut our own fire wood.Cath Armstronghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12982092492622482815noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8814984506642537843.post-76934206695141842192013-07-27T17:40:16.551+10:002013-07-27T17:40:16.551+10:00I don't own a dryer. I use these mainly in winter to finish off the drying after the clothes have been on the line but didn't dry completely. I have a combustion fire and they don't take long to dry in front of that. I also have a line under the veranda that hubby made for me. Where I live in South Australia, it is not often that I don't get clothes dry in Winter due to our dry climate.

Oh, and I also use a twin tub washing machine. Saves on water and electricity. My washing is done in one and a half hours and I use one tub full of water for the machine and one tub for the rinsing. A little more effort on my behalf, but the savings are worth it!

Thank you for this great post...Taniahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10176661940614462611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8814984506642537843.post-21083756505812219632013-07-23T14:37:30.342+10:002013-07-23T14:37:30.342+10:00I also have several clothes horses but my favourit...I also have several clothes horses but my favourite is the one my dad made for me. It is a frame with extendable ends and is on rollers so I can move it into the garage or along the veranda to follow the sun. It is a little too large to have in our bedroom but then, being from Queensland, we don't have heater vents to take advantage of and the best part of the house for drying clothes is the garage.
The comment abut your boys taking their clothes straight from the clothes horse really struck home with me. My husband will take his clothes from the clothes horse and go back to our bedroom to put them on...BUT NOT ONCE in eighteen years has he ever taken ALL his clothes back to the bedroom. He will make the same trip every day of the week if I don't relent and do it for him.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
