Going to a Four Day Week

When Wayne came home tonight, he was grinning from ear to ear.

"Pack your bags, is the food ready?" Hmm. I was a little confused.

"I have Monday off". He was laughing at the look on my face.

Yes, due to the current round of restrictions on essential workers, he was asked this morning if he'd be prepared to go to a four day week. Oh yeah! What an answer to prayer.

I've been praying almost non-stop that he'd be asked to cut back on work, or be offered holidays or long service leave or even time without pay - any of those would make us happy. I hate that he has to go into hot zones and work where there are people who just don't care about obeying the restrictions, their health or the health of the people who have to help them.

They were told a few weeks ago that they can say no to jobs in hot zones if they choose to, and I know he has said no to some jobs. But my husband has a soft heart and he won't let anyone suffer (unlike me, I would!).

And now he's working a four day week, something I've been trying to talk him into for two years, to get him ready for retirement. Our goal is early retirement and this is the first step!
