Use Your Slush Fund

Once you've set a grocery budget it's important to stick to it, or the whole reason for having one is pointless and you've just wasted your time.

But what do you do when you find an item you use regularly on a really fantastic special? How can you stock up without busting the budget? You use your grocery slush fund.

Build your slush fund with leftover grocery money and use it for stocking up on those bargains that are just too good to pass up.

You'll still be on budget dollar wise and ahead in your stockpiling.

  1. Hi Cath,
Its good that you have said to use a fund to buy what you can on special.
Just recently Woollies had 4 liters of Italian Olive Oil on special for 1/2 price instead of $26 they were $13 so I was able to buy 4 tins at that price from my change that is left over from shopping.
Then last week they had 24 pack of Coke for half price for $14.59 a pack. As Hubby likes a bot of coke I was able to buy 2 cartons for him which will last almost through summer.
Foodland had tins of Italian Tomatoes for 59c a tin I bought several at this price then the price went down to 39c to clear out the stock so I bought trays of them, All from my change jar.
Keep up the good work, Cheers
